Our Program Model
POH launched our first year of programming in Fall 2018 with an inaugural cohort of 20 families living in or around the Adams Morgan neighborhood. As of 2024, the Platform of Hope is in the sixth year of our program, with 6 cohorts (totaling over 100 families) having engaged in our model, including 50 active families this year.
Program delivery includes the following:
1. Self-directed and individualized support to families with coaching and personal goal setting, monitored through monthly/bimonthly* personal meetings with POH staff
2. Monthly family sessions that build social capital and robust community support networks to allay against eroding neighborhood-based social networks due to gentrification
3. Additional trainings/services for families based on self-reported needs (ex. parenting classes, trauma-informed therapy, financial literacy)
4. Expedited access to goal-related services from partner organizations, including healthcare, arts instruction, housing and financial services
*our POH “Pro” track launched in 2022 and offers families the opportunity to remain in POH with amended program participation: POH Pros meet less frequently with POH staff but maintain consistent engagement with the POH community through workshops and Family Saturdays. POH Pro is intended to offer a customized track for families who’ve been in the program for multiple years.
